In 2014 Clime Direct, formerly StocksInValue, had quite a niche audience of sophisticated value investors who spend a lot of time researching their next purchase or sale. In response to a joint venture between Clime Asset Management and NewsCorp which had hoped to leverage News’ large audience, I designed the marketing website in tandem with the development of the new, updated analysis tool.
Responsibilites:
- IA & Wire frame, UX Design & Graphic Design
Technologies Used:
- Photoshop, Balsamiq Mockups, Adobe XD
The original Clime Direct (StocksInValue) system had been built in 2013 on Drupal using the Bootstrap framework but a decision was made at the time of development to turn off the “responsiveness” of the site. My first step in this project was to gather all of the requirements from the National Manager and then draw up some wireframes and initial designs to show the developers how the elements would display on mobile devices.
These wireframes went through a few changes but once everyone was happy, I moved onto prototyping. One of the main issues I faced was a solution to making the company listing page responsive without the need for horizontal scrolling.
Using Adobe XD to create the prototypes, I created different layouts depending on the device. Below is the homepage in desktop view followed by mobile and tablet.
Here’s the solution I designed to display data in a large, multi-column, table that wouldn’t require horizontal scrolling. Depending on the viewport size, the data in each row will reorder and can be viewed by clicking on the touch input that only starts to display once the viewport gets below a certain width.
